After our last game, where we lost quite a few players to injury, the first half of this game was dedicated to getting some new players used to new positions. Peoria took advantage and jumped out to a 14-0 lead. We drove down the field multiple times in the first half and instead of possibly tieing the score with less than 1 minute to go we ended up giving up a long interception return and peoria had the ball at our 1 yard line and punched it in to go up 21-6. After halftime, the tide changed and we dominated play. Our defense was a turnover machine and our offense couldn't be stopped. Jonathan Miller capped off our first drive of the second half with a 19 yard TD to cut the lead to 8. Our defense got us the ball back and our offense went to work again. After methodically moving the ball down the field, Mac Desenberg punched in his second TD of the game, a 25 yard run, to cut the lead to 2. Late in the fourth quarter our defense worked their magic again, causing the peoria QB to fumble the ball in their territory and Jonathan Miller recovered the fumble to put our offense back into business. A few plays later, with less than 2 minutes to go in the game Mac Desenberg ran in his third TD of the game and we finally took the lead, after the 2 point conversion, we held a dangerous 6 point lead. On the insuing kickoff, Peoria ran a reverse and it payed off big time as they had the ball on our 35 yard line. After 3 plays, their prayers were answered as they threw up the hail mary and after a deflection #86 came up with his second miraculous catch of the night and the score was tied. The extra point sailed through the uprights and our comeback was spoiled. What an effort and what a way to end the season. I am so proud of everyone even though we came out on the short end, we fought till the end. Good luck in the future and I look forward to watching these boys grow into winners over the next three years. |
